Hello, I’m Sarah, and I’m in the final year of my Master’s in Clinical Social Work at Washburn and will graduate exactly 20 years after earning my Bachelor’s in Psychology. In the years between degrees, I have gathered a lot of life experience in good and hard ways. Two highlights? Helping to grow my little family and watching my husband send stage three colon cancer packing! Lowlights? Losing too many loved ones in too many ways and also watching my husband send stage three colon cancer packing. I love to study and learn, so for well over a decade I have been digging into topics such as adult ADHD, trauma-informed care, sexuality, cultural humility, and gender identity, inside and outside of the classroom. I’m honored to be a part of CFCC and inspired by their dedication to destroying barriers to mental health care. It’s an honor to channel my energy into supporting this mission and to work alongside such a talented and supportive team of therapists and support staff.
It is important for you to know that I feel deep compassion and even deeper hope for people living with shame, anxiety, self-doubt, and/or depression, whether stemming from trauma, past messages, current circumstances, or any mix of factors unique to each individual’s experience. It’s thrilling to watch others uncover their true selves, discover strength and resilience they might not realize they possess, and grow toward authenticity, belonging, compassion for self and others, determination, and empowerment.
Depending on your comfort level with a faith-based perspective, I will utilize a variety of methods that are grounded in evidence-based research and/or offer therapeutic approaches that go hand-in-hand with Biblical principles. If you struggle to feel accepted or cared for just as you are, I want to offer you a safe haven and listen to your story if you will share it with me. And if you feel stuck or have lost hope, I will loan you some of mine as we work together toward healing and wholeness. If you’re reading this, you are worth fighting for; and if no one has ever done that for you, you have the opportunity to be the first! You don’t have to fight alone.
